What's the Buzz?
Sexuality Education

A comprehensive program on Sex and Sexuality for Adolescents

A Modern, Comprehensive Sex Ed for Today's Youth

As our society challenges itself to grow and update the definitions of consent and relational trust, we must find new ways to help our children navigate their own sexual and relationship health.

Based on the UnHushed program, this class covers sex and sexuality by helping adolescents learn about the science of bodies and sex and the humanity of relationships and consent!

Science-Based

facts and information

Participants learn scientifically proven facts, information on sex and body parts, statistics, and research driven information on relationships. They are presented with the factual information and allowed to ask questions and form their own opinions by combining with their own family's values and beliefs.

Trusted

by parents and participants

Both parents and participants agree - What's the Buzz is an unexpected triumph! Parents appreciate the piece of mind that comes with their children having accurate information to help them form safe and lasting relationships with friends and romantic interests. And participants are relieved to gather information in a safe and fun atmosphere. Both report back that the class encouraged more conversations about these challenging topics.

Professionals

in the field

Lead by Angela Funke, MA, LMFT and Julie Spears, MA, LCSW, this class promotes a safe learning environment presented by professional therapists.

Angela and Julie are also both mothers of adolescents and know the challenges first hand of finding the right way to introduce youth to difficult and important topics.

Parents often struggle with the right words on the topics of sex and sexuality and schools often fail at covering the breadth of the topic. "What's the Buzz" is the bridge between the complicated and necessary science-based information and the confidence that adolescents can gain from being informed and asking questions. This class does not aim to guide participants on the right and wrong choices, but instead aims to help inform them on the science of our bodies and the humanity of relationship language and navigation.

Read about the class from our parent's and participant's perspective below:

“It covers a wide variety of topics that I feel helped my daughter to realize there is more than just having a boyfriend.”

“I would encourage other kids to take this class because it's helpful and it opened my eyes to things I didn't realize before!”

8th Grader

“My teenage daughter recently completed the UnHushed sex ed course and we couldn’t be happier. Prior to this class she was very uncomfortable bringing issues of a sexual nature to me for discussion. She is now able to speak freely with me and our relationship is much closer. The class not only offered her the information she needed, but more importantly, it gave her the tools and confidence to make appropriate choices in her life.”

“It’s crazy, funny, and fun! Don’t be nervous!”

6th Grader

“My daughter (15) and son (12) were very reluctant to take a human sexuality class. After the class, my daughter admitted to me one day that she was glad to be in the class. Wow! She even went on to say "I hate to admit this, but I'm going to have my children take this class when they are my age." Our casual family conversations are much more mature since they've gained such good, clear information, and it's created more closeness among us.”
